A pure perovskite phase with the composition SrBi2Ta209 and a crystal size <50 nm was formed at 1073 K from a xerogel precursor, obtained by gelation from Ta(EtO)5 and Sr-acetate and BiO-nitrate solution in methoxyethanol using an acetic acid catalyst [70]. Acetate ions act as bidentate ligands in this solution, equalizing the hydrolysis/condensation rates of Ta and other ions. [Pg.97]

The hybrid xerogels exhibiting remarkable adsorption capacities of water vapor can be prepared in a cost-effective way using the modified one-step, sol-gel procedure with ethyl silicate 40 as silica precursor. [Pg.863]

A sol-gel technique was used to prepare hybrid organic-inorganic xerogels containing high concentrations of dithienylethenes. The sol-gel materials were prepared by a method based on co-condensation between the hydrolyzed species of the diarylethene derivative 38a and of methyltrihydroxysilane precursors as shown below. [Pg.58]
