Wurtzite structural analogs

In binary compounds generally, the structures are often those of the corresponding zinc analogs. Thus the low temperature form of BeO has the wurtzite structure while the most stable Be(OH)2 polymorph has the Zn(OH)2 structure. [Pg.114]

An interstitial atom in an antibonding (AB) site is bonded to its nearest neighbour lattice atom. This location is often found in H complexes involving a donor atom and results in the relaxation of the local lattice bonding. There also exists a special interstitial structure, the di-interstitial configuration. Incidentally, Fig. 2.5 shows the ternary symmetry of the sphalerite lattice along a <111 > direction. This is analogous with the wurtzite structure, where... [Pg.32]

The stoichiometry of Mn-S precipitated from solution is normally MnS. The stable form of MnS is green a-MnS, which has the rocksalt structure. However, the pink form, which is the form that usually precipitates from solution, is a mixture of p-MnS (zincblende) and 7-MnS (wurtzite), both of which are metastable. MnSe behaves analogously. [Pg.246]
