Worked example using Fauskes method

The Table below gives data (see 6.5) at the relief pressure of 2.0 bara  [Pg.167]

Since relief is via a safety valve, F can be taken as 1 because friction is accounted for by the discharge coefficient below. [Pg.167]

As the safety valve has a de-rated discharge coefficient of 0.87, then A=0.0383/0.87 = 0.044 m2. In this case, Fauske s method gives a slightly higher relief area than the 0.0378 m2 given by Leung s method. [Pg.167]
