Wigner, Eugene group theory

We usually have plenty of the energy levels, while the number of the irreducible representation is small. Thus, there will be in general a lot of levels with the same labels. This result was first obtained by Eugene Wigner. The group theory will not tell us about how many levels correspond to a particular irreducible representation, or what energy they correspond to. [Pg.1100]
