Why Is Implementing Enterprise Software So Difficult

Another reason is simply the complexity of the technology. Sometimes the number of interrelated system functions and data items simply defeats the project team s ability to comprehend and configure them. However, this accounts for a small percentage of project failures. By far the most prevalent reason that enterprise technology projects are so difficult is that they involve many people and not enough attention is paid to their individual needs. 

The people involved in an enterprise software project extend far beyond the immediate project team. It will involve all levels of management and staff of the organization, including information technology staff, technology vendors, integration partners, and perhaps a host of consultants, subcontractors, or contract staff.
