The Welsh Triads also relate that all but two people, of the first inhabitants of Britain drowned in a great flood. A ship, containing a man and his family, along with a male and female of every living creature were the only ones to survive the flood. [Pg.182]

The Triads then mention the arrival of the Cymry or Kymry. This name means the first race and later the British. As we saw in Chapter 5, the Greeks knew them as Kimmerioi. Others called them Cambria or Cumbria. They derive from the Welsh word Cymru, pronounced as Kumry or Kumri. Assyrian texts give the Israelites the same name. [Pg.182]
