Weld mark

A mark on a molded piece made by the meeting of two flow fronts during molding. Also called weld line or weld mark. [Pg.2223]

Standards of pipework fabrication, welding, marking, erection, testing, painting, and cleaning, in complement to the design standard employed. [Pg.167]

Weld line (weld mark, flow line) A flaw on a molded plastic article marking the meeting of two flow fronts within the mold. Because the two fronts may have cooled and skinned over before meeting, or had too... [Pg.1064]

How Line. Streaks of different reflectance from the surrounding area, arising in glass and in injection moulded parts, from the flow pattern of material during forming the part see chill mark weld mark. [Pg.127]

Weld Mark. A deep groove or fissure (in glass or whiteware) formed by incomplete union of two or more particles or streams of material flowing together. (ASTM F109). [Pg.353]

Weld line Also called weld mark, flow line, or striae. It is a mark or line when two melt flow fronts meet during the filling of an injection mold. [Pg.545]

SchweiBnaht weld seam polym weld line, weld mark, knit line, flow line... [Pg.223]

Weld Line (weld mark, flow line) A flaw on a molded plastic article marking the meeting of two flow fronts within the mold. Because the two fronts may have cooled and skinned over before meeting, or had too little time in the molten state for interdiffusion of molecular segments across the interface, the weld may be imperfect and weak. (2) In extrusion of pipe, tubing, and some profiles firom end-fed dies in which the cores... [Pg.809]

One of the oldest applications listed in Table 1 involves bonding hood inner and outer panels. Automotive hoods and roofs have a tendency to oil can or flutter at high speeds unless they are stiffened with an inner reinforcing member. The hood inner members are adhesively bonded to avoid unslightly weld marks. [Pg.730]
