Sideline. When Onsager died, he was buried in the Grove Street Cemetery in New Elaven, CT, next to his colleague, Kirkwood.52 Gibbs, Eli Whitney, and Noah Webster are also buried in the same cemetery.

The distinction between foederal and anti-foederd was coined by the American lexicographer Noah Webster in 1786. It was meant to distinguish between those who favored greater centralized or foederal power and those who did not. See Z)C, vol. i, p. 1049. 

A person who was a real expert of the English language was Noah Webster, of dictionary fame. He was a wordsmith who knew to use the right word for any occasion. The story goes that when Mrs. Webster came home and found Noah in bed with another woman she exclaimed Oh Noah I am surprised No my dear, I am surprised, you re astonished he replied.
