However, neither does that mean that we can choose a wavelength completely arbitrarily. When performing the calibration, the value of the calibration coefficient will depend on the value of e at the analytical wavelength, by Equation (8.2). Thus the wavelength selected for calibration must be used for analysis or, since the analyte will have a different extinction coefficient at a different wavelength, error will be generated by lack of fit of the equation due to the use of an incorrect value of the calibration coefficient. [Pg.163]
