Volvo automobile

Methane was used as a fuel for vehicles for a number of years. Several Volvo automobile models with Bi-Fuel engines were made to run on compressed methane with gasoline as a backup. Biogas can also be used, like metbane, to power motor vehicles. 

This work has been performed within the Competence Centre for Catalysis, which is financed by NUTEK - The Swedish National Board for Industrial and Technical Development, Chalmers University of Technology, AB Volvo, Saab Automobile AB, Johnson Matthey, ABB FlSkt Industri AB, Perstorp AB and AB Svensk Bilprovning.
