2 Volumetric Holdup (Fluidized Beds, Spray, Bubble and Drop Columns) 

The objective of the following is to describe the volumetric holdup of two-phase systems in a general way. This is possible if 

6-6 Volumetric holdup of the continuous phase as a function of the ratio of velocities with 

6-8 Ratio v /v f- against the particle Archimedes number is plotted against the dimensionless particle diameter 

The curve ( (. = 0-4) (or in general of the fixed bed) allows to determine the minimum fluidizing velocity v f from the expression
