Vinca spp

Vincamine is used in a variety of cerebral disorders. An airborne dermatitis starting on the eyelids and neck and followed by lesions on the elbows and armpits occurred in a man who was extracting the tartrate salt from Vinca spp. plants (van Hecke 1981). 

Vinca minor, V. major— the common periwinkles—contain numerous indole alkaloids including vincamine, majdine, majoridine. Their actions are antihaemorrhagic and astringent. Vinca spp. do not contain the antineoplastic alkaloids found in Cantharanthus (Wren 1988). 

Euonymus europaeus. Vinca minor Altemaria spp. altersetin, alternariol, alternariol monomethylether, tenuazonic acid 198, 203, 246...

Vinca alkaloids, Catharanthus alkaloids a group of about 60 iridoid indole alkaloids from Vinca (Catharanthus) spp. Structurally, they are tetra- or penta-cyclic indole derivatives with an iridoid component, e g. vindoline, [a]n -18° (CHCI3), m.p. 174-176°C, and vincamine, [ci]d + 41° (pyridine), m.p. 232-233 °C. These are accompanied in the leaves by small quantities (about 0.005%) of two dimeric V.a., i.e. Vinblastine (see) and fincristine (see) (Hg.). Tryptophan and mevalonic acid are biosynthetic precursors... 

Pharmaceutical workers are sometimes exposed to plant materials. Plants reported to have been a problem include Arnica longifolia [157] and A. montana [412], atropine (Duboisia spp.) [413] psyllium (Plantago spp.), [414] Vinca alkaloids [415, 416], codeine [188], and Cinchona. The last occurred in warehousemen with urticaria in an airborne distribution.
