Velocity spectra of forward scattered products

If reaction (64) occurs by ideal spectator stripping, the velocity of the product ion AB is given by [Pg.323]

In Fig. 6 the velocity spectrum for the reaction Ar + Dj - ArD + D is reproduced [27, 93]. The velocities are expressed in units of the velocity Va of the incident ion A in the laboratory system. The peak of the product ion band gives a velocity Vab = 0.962Va which is in good agreement with the value 0.953 Va calculated from eqn. (67). (The value calculated from eqn. (68) is 0.909Va ) [Pg.324]

From similar comparisons of measured spectra with expected values, Henglein et al. concluded that the atom transfer reactions [Pg.324]

Other strong evidence for the stripping mechanism comes from the study of the reaction [Pg.324]

Their velocity spectra further revealed that stripping also occurs in the reactions [Pg.325]
