Variation of Heteroatoms

Naturally the redox properties of the general structures A-C ould strongly be influenced by different heteroatoms X. Since this report deals mainly with Weitz type systems, X is incorporated into a heterocyclic ring.

Simple substitution reactions at the heteroatom have been effected without ring cleavage. Most of these reactions are general reactions depicting the chemistry that is typical of individual M—Cl bonds. The li/-2-benzosilepin system provides a good illustrative example of the variation of heteroatom substitution possibilities.
