Variable grating mode

Greubel and Wolff and Vistin observed that for thin and pure samples the spatial periodicity of the pattern in DC excitation decreases with increasing voltage above the threshold. Smith et have suggested that this variable grating mode is due to non-linear (saturation) effects at higher voltages in samples that are so thin and pure that the conductivity instability has been quenched. [Pg.192]
