Using Pure Oxygen in Place of Air

It will be very rare for a designer to have a real choice between the use of air or oxygen in a PEM fuel cell system. Oxygen is nsed in air-independent systems such as submarines and spacecraft otherwise air is used. However, the use of oxygen does markedly improve the performance of a PEM fuel cell. This results from three effects  [Pg.111]

Published results (Prater, 1990) suggest that the effect of a change from air to oxygen will increase the power of a PEM fuel cell by about 30%. However, this will vary [Pg.111]
