Untreated silica, surface hydroxyl groups

These antifoams may be prepared by mixing preformed hydrophobed silica particles with PDMS oils. They may also be prepared by mixing untreated silica particles with these oils in the presence of a catalyst that facilitates an in situ reaction between PDMSs and the surface hydroxyl groups of silica.
