Unsaturated C-glycopyranoside

For cyclic systems even more than for acyclic systems, chirality is readily introduced from carbohydrate precursors thus providing a simple method for the stereoselective construction of unsaturated C-glycopyranosides. An early example is the Claisen rearrangement of 19409.
