United Kingdom commissioned materials

This series of texts is a result of an initiative by the Committee of Heads of Polytechnic Chemistry Departments in the United Kingdom, A project team based at Thames Polytechnic using funds available from the Manpower Services Commission Open Tech Project has organised and managed the development of the material suitable for use by Distance Learners . The contents of the various units have been identified, planned and written almost exclusively by groups of polytechnic staff, who are both expert in the subject area and are currently teaching in analytical chemistry. [Pg.3]

The newest ethylene/CO copolymers are quite different materials. Shell and others have recently reported success in producing ethylene/carbon monoxide copolymers with up to a 1 1 molar ratio of carbon monoxide to ethylene in their structure. Shell Chemical calls their polymer Carri-lon. A pilot plant was commissioned in Carrington, United Kingdom in 1996. These are high molecular weight polymers in which the carbon monoxide is distributed evenly along the polymer chain. [Pg.266]

WG2 has also commissioned surveys from the various P member countries on the current working practices of analysts within (hose countries with regards to reference materials. At present, a limited response has been obtained from the United Kingdom, while Japan is still conducting its survey. The results from the latter survey should help to formulate the future policy of WG2. [Pg.918]
