Ugi/aldol sequence

Hulme et al. have described an Ugi/aldol sequence for the synthesis of different substituted nitrogen heterocycles [69] (Scheme 7.33). Thus, depending on the reaction conditions and also in the structure of the used reagents, the authors described three types of produets 5-hydroxypyridine-2-ones 80 and pyridinone-3-yl-benzimidazol-2-ones 81, among others (Scheme 7.33).
