UCls Uranium chloride

U(C204)4K4-5H20 Potassiumtet-raoxalatouranate(IV), 3 169 UCls Uranium (III) chloride, 6 145 UCI4 Uranium (IV) chloride, 6 143,... [Pg.334]

I. The preparation of completely pure UCU (or UCls) is difficult since under normal conditions there exists an equilibrium 2 UCU + CI3 = 2 UCI5. However, for many purposes, especially for the subsequent reduction to metallic U, any mixture of the two uranium chlorides is adequate. Such a mixture is prepared rapidly and conveniently by the following method. [Pg.1436]

Chlorides. The oHve-green trichloride [10025-93-1], UCl, has been synthesized by chlorination of UH [13598-56-6] with HCl. This reaction is driven by the formation of gaseous H2 as a reaction by-product. The stmcture of the trichloride has been deterrnined and the central uranium atom possesses a riine-coordinate tricapped trigonal prismatic coordination geometry. The solubiUty properties of UCl are as follows soluble in H2O, methanol, glacial acetic acid insoluble in ethers. [Pg.332]

Gilman and co-workers have also shown that interaction of uranium pentaethoxide and hydrogen chloride in appropriate molar ratios of reactants in ether afforded the products UCl(OEt)4, UCl2(OEt)3, and UCl3(OEt)2. [Pg.131]
