Types of Ions in ESI

Very similar to the previously introduced desorption methods ESI produces a variety of ions depending on the polarity of the analyte, the characteristics of the solvent, and on the presence or absence of impurities such as alkali metal ions. Radical ions are normally not observed. (Table 11.1).
