However, natural gas prices have a record of being rather volatile. For instance, in the 1998-2000 period, natural gas prices dropped to a low of 1 per million Btu, and was the driving factor in the decision to shut down and decommission the Trojan Nuclear Power Plant in Oregon. However, orders on new installations were reached a backup of 3 years, and within a few years, the natural gas prices peaked at a high of 14.
