Triphenylmethyl isocyanide

Some imidoyllithiums 52 derived from triphenylmethyl isocyanide (51) dissociate to produce nitriles, which react with an organolithium reagent to give the corresponding imines and, after their hydrolysis, ketones. The intermediate nitrile can be isolated working at —78°C, whereas for the isolation of imines or ketones, after addition of the organolithium, the reaction was allowed to warm to room temperature (Scheme 14)74. The structure of the imidoyllithium intermediate has been assigned by IR spectroscopy... [Pg.147]

In the early stage of helical polymer stereochemistry, a few polymers were known to retain a helical main chain with a predominantly single screw sense in solution at room temperature. For example, in cases of poly( f-bulyl isocyanides) [22], poly(triphenylmethyl methacrylate) [23], polyisocyanate [24], and poly-a-olefins [19], helical structures are kept through side group interactions. Since these pioneering works, many synthetic optically active polymers with a chromophoric main chain bearing chiral and/or bulky side... [Pg.123]

Several tervalent phosphorus compounds readily remove selenium from triphenylmethyl isoselenocyanate (54) at room temperature forming the isocyanide quantitatively. ... [Pg.14]
