Triphenoxy borate ester

Yasuda and Baba recently reported a cage-shaped borate ester (165) and its tetrahydrofuran (THE) adduct, (166) (Figure 5.10) [100]. Compound (165) is more Lewis acidic compared to the planar triphenoxy borate ester (167). [Pg.234]

In (165), the dihedral angle C-O-B-O is 48.4° compared to 2.0° found in planar triaryloxy borate ester (167), and as a consequence, there is less efficient orbital overlap in (165) compared to triphenoxy borate ester (167) Figure 5.11 [100]. [Pg.234]
