Trimethylchlorosilane vapor

Hydrophobie quartz eapillaries with methylated surface were prepared using two methods. In the first case, the eapillaries with open ends were stored at 250°C in an evaeuated ehamber in an atmosphere of trimethylchlorosilane vapor for 12 h. The seeond method consisted in pumping 5% trimethylchlor-... [Pg.324]

The coating of materials with a water-repellent film has been achieved by use of the methylchlorosilanes. A piece of cotton cloth exposed for a second or two to the vapor of trimethylchlorosilane,... [Pg.633]

The GC system consists of five components 1. the carrier gas supply, 2. the sample injection system, 3. the column and oven, 4. the detector, and 5. signal processing and control electronics. The carrier gas must be chemically inert with respect both to the sample and the stationary phase, and must not interfere with the detector function. Hj, He, Nj, O2, Ar and CO2 are commonly used. The sample must be vaporized before it enters the column. Thus for solid or liquid samples, the inlet is kept at a high temperature in order to vaporize the entire sample instantly. Liquid and solid samples are commcmly introdu d in solution in this case the solvent must be carefully chosen so that it does not react chemically with either the sample or the stationary phase of the column at high temperature. It must also leave the column at a different time from the sample and not overload the column. If the sample is not volatile, it may be converted to a volatile chemical derivative, e.g. by reaction with trimethylchlorosilane or hexamethyldisila-zane. [Pg.238]

K ionophore sensor (61). To make -selective SECM tips, borosilicate capillaries (o.d./i.d. 1.0/0.58 mm) are cleaned in a 1 1 (v/v) mixture of concentrated sulfuric acid and 30% hydrogen peroxide overnight, washed and dried at 120 °C for 30 min. Using a laser-based pipette puller, patch clamp type pipettes are produced (orifice radius = 0.7-20 pm). The inner wall of each pipette is silanized with a toluene solution of trimethylchlorosilane (5-100% v/v). The solution is removed from the pipette after 5-30 min, emptied using a syringe, and then connected to a vacuum pump to remove any residual silanizing vapor. The experimental system can be represented by the following cell ... [Pg.493]

Methylation of quartz surface was used for preparation of hydrophobic capillaries. The methods are based on a reaction of OH groups on quartz surface with trimethylchlorosilane molecules from vapor phase or from a solution in benzene (see Section I). [Pg.344]
