Tricyclodecane derivative

A useful technique is to use broad-band decoupling in the co dimension. The pulse sequence shown in Figure 5.64 is used to achieve this. The fully coupled spectrum appears on one axis while the fully decoupled spectrum appears on the other axis. This method has the advantage that the chemical shifts of the individual protons can be read from the singlets on one axis and the proton-proton couplings can be easily identified. The Jeener spectrum of a tricyclodecane derivative is shown in Figure 5.65. The spectrum above the... [Pg.275]

Figure 5.65. 2D-Shift correlated spectrum of the tricyclodecane derivative, showing decoupling in the (Uj dimension through the use of the pulse sequence shown in Figure 5.64. The spectrum on the top of the diagram is the fully coupled spectrum in the right margin is the decoupled projection of the 2D spectrum. The area enclosed by the two vertical dashed lines corresponding to the multiplet for proton J contains cross peaks. Projection to the right from these cross peaks affords the various chemical shifts of protons to which proton J is coupled. Thermoplastic polymers were also earlier reported to have been prepared by heating tricyclodecane dithiol with terephthaloyl chloride in a chlorinated solvent [16b]. Additional examples are cited for polythioesters based on bis-phenol A and random other polythioesters derived from bicyclic thiols. The starting diolefins for the dithols are prepared by the Diels-Alder synthesis using cyclopentadiene, acetylene, butadiene, etc. [Pg.63]
