Tribracchial lariat ether

Tribracchial lariat ethers, TriBLEs , based on 4, 10, 16-triaza-18-crown-6 an apparent limit to sidearm contributions in lariat ether molecules, S. R. Miller, T. P. Cleary, J. E. Trafton, C. Smeraglia, F. R. Fronczek and G. W. Gokel, J. Chem. Soc., Chem. Commun., 1989, 806. 

When more than one arm was present, the Latin word for arm, i.e., bracchium, wm used in the name. Two-armed ani three-armed lariat ethers were called bibrac-chial and tribracchial lariat ethers, respectively. These names were shortened to BiBLEs and TriBLEs.
