Transition miscellaneous

Other miscellaneous compounds that have been used as inhibitors are sulfur and certain sulfur compounds (qv), picryUiydrazyl derivatives, carbon black, and a number of soluble transition-metal salts (151). Both inhibition and acceleration have been reported for styrene polymerized in the presence of oxygen. The complexity of this system has been clearly demonstrated (152). The key reaction is the alternating copolymerization of styrene with oxygen to produce a polyperoxide, which at above 100°C decomposes to initiating alkoxy radicals. Therefore, depending on the temperature, oxygen can inhibit or accelerate the rate of polymerization. 

Miscellaneous. A number of reports of the synthesis of unusual heterocyclic phosphines have appeared. Improved procedures for the synthesis of l,3,5-triaza-7-phospha-adamantane (48) have been reported,40-41 and the triazaphosphahomo-adamantane (49) has also been prepared.42 Routes to the large ring phosphacyclo-alkanes (50) have been described,43 and the bicyclic diphosphine (51) has been isolated from the reaction of white phosphorus with o-dichlorobenzene in the presence of transition-metal halides.44... 

The original provisions date back to the early 1970s. Under section 7(2) of the Medicines Act 1968, it was necessary to hold a product licence in order to sell, supply, export or import a medicinal product to procure those activities or for the manufacture or assembly of the product. However, various exemptions from the licensing requirements, including those relating to particular patient supply, were provided for in the act and in related statutory instruments. The most important exemptions were contained in sections 9 and 13 of the act, the Medicines (Exemption from Licences) (Special and Transitional Cases) Order 1971, the Medicines (Exemption from Licences) (Special Cases and Miscellaneous Provisions) Order 1972 and the Medicines (Exemptions from Licences) (Importation) Order 1984. ...

Miscellaneous ligands so far incorporated into the polystyrene matrix include imidazolyl [21], 2-amido oxime [22], thioether and sulfoxide moieties [23]. The procedure is simple and essentially involves the halogen-replacement of Cl- or Br- from polystyrene matrix, bearing CH2C1, or Br- groups. Mostly, first row transition element salts undergo facile complexation with these modified polystyrene matrices [21] (Fig. 11). 

G, Miscellaneous Papers.—Calculations have been reported on BH3CO,287 the dimerization of BH3 and LiH,288 and the reaction of H- with POH3.289 In the latter study the trigonal bypyramid with the phosphoryl oxygen equatorial turns out to be more stable. The transition state was predicted to be a distorted trigonal bipyramid.

Miscellaneous Applications. The hydroxyl directed hydrogenation of vinylstannanes and -silanes has been demonstrated to proceed efficiently. The authors present a transition state model which rationalizes the observed results (eq 3 and eq4).
