Tower Terminology

Table 1 displays the properties thatcan be discussed in terms of the tram effect (or cis or metal effect) together with some terminology, in order to allow the reader to connect this article to the literature concerning the simpler metal complexes (9-11,16-19) and to prevent some Tower-of-Babel confusion of language into which an ill-prepared reader might fall. The most general and appropriate terminology is the one used by Hill, Pratt, and Williams (Table 1, Column 2) it correlates with the properties to be discussed. Pratt additionally states that the cis or trans effects cover the three levels of properties, A-C (Table 1), and that these levels show diminishing... There is no atom that states that take-off clearance from the Tower is communicated to the Hercules. At the same time, the clearance for take-off is given to the Airbus aircraft that almost simultaneously initiates take-off from the crossing mnway at time point 20 see atom performed(airbus pilot, take oflf from(mnway 03)). Luckily, the Tower observes the conflict situation (this atom is not depicted in the trace) and communicates a STOP signal to the Airbus at time point 24. As a result, the pilot of the Airbus aborts the take-off at time point 27 and a severe coUision is prevented by this action. As can be seen this scenario is almost identical (with the exception of some minor differences in terminology and timing) to the empirical trace shown in Fig. 2. [Pg.78]

This book is unique in its consistency in terminology and units. Tower or column motionless mixer or static mixer tray or plate - these are just some of the terms that are used interchangeably when discussing process equipment. In this book consistent use of terms has been applied. The SI units of measurement are used throughout the text. [Pg.474]
