Torreya nucifera

In the study reported here, Taxus baccata, T. canadensis (2/2), Taxus sp., and T. speciosa, all previously recorded as giving positive alkaloid tests, were positive. Phyllocladus alpinus (now assigned to a unigcneric family, Phyllocladaceae) and Torreya nucifera were also positive. [Pg.208]

Torreya nucifera (L.) Siebold Zucc. (leaves) Amentoflavone (1). Traditionally used as a medicinal plant in Asia. The ethanol extraet showed good SARS-CoV 3CL inhibitory aetivity (62% at 100 pg/mL). Amentoflavone (1) showed the most potent 3CL inhibitory effeet (IC5o=8.3 pM). Inhibitory aetivity appeared to be assoeiated with the presenee of an apigenin moiety at position C-3 of flavones, as biflavone had an effeet on 3CL inhibitory aetivity. Ryu et al., 2010 [442]. [Pg.160]

CisHjjO, Mr 218.34, oil, bp. 148-150°C (2.13 kPa). Alarm and defence substance of the ant species Lasius (Dendrolasius) fuliginosus K D. also occurs in the leaves of Torreya nucifera (Taxaceae) as well as in marine organisms. For synthesis, see Ut.. ... [Pg.178]

CijHjoO, Mr 216.32, oil, bp. 108 C (4 Pa), [a]o +37.6° (CHClj), a sesquiterpene aldehyde with the bisabo-lene skeleton, isolated from Torreya nucifera. The corresponding alcohol, nuciferol (C15H22O. Mr 218.34) is also present in the plant. [Pg.441]

Nuciferol (Sakai et al., 1965) is a constituent of Torreya nucifera, the Japanese nutmeg-yew, and bisabolangelone is a constituent of the small shrub Angelica sil-vestris and a few other members of the Umbelliferae. Bisabolangelone has been reported to be an antifeedant, that is, a material that discourages foraging of leaves on (or in) which it is found by herbivores. [Pg.1082]
