To Make Polymers which are Biodegradable

One of the commonly used biodegradable polymer Thermal Polyaspartate [Pg.159]

The above synthesis is green because it uses no organic solvent, produces little or no waste and the yield is better than 97%. [Pg.159]

Polycarbonates were earlier prepared by the polymerisation of phenols (e.g., bisphenol-A) using phosgene and methylene chloride. A new process has been developed by Asahi Chemical Industries using solid state polymerisation for producing polycarbonate without phosgene and methylene chloride.  [Pg.159]

It is well known that most of the polymers are not biodegradable. This problem can be approached in two ways. One way is to recycle the polymer and the other way is to convert it again into the monomers and recycle them again. However, the best way is to make polymers which are biodegradable. [Pg.158]
