Titanium III bromide

In the presence of bibyridyl, titanium (III) bromide in AN is ionized to a greater extent than titanium (III) chloride 46). [Pg.85]

Titanium (III) bromide TiBra-GHsO is prepared in exactly the same way as Tida 6H2O. A solution of 37 g. of TiBr4 in 25 ml of 34% hydrobromic acid is poured into the clay cylinder and reduced for three hours at a current intensity of 2.5 amp. [Pg.1195]

Titanium (III) bromide is a black compotmd crystallizing in both hexagonal plates and needles under the conditions of preparation described. It becomes violet to red on exposure to moist air and dissolves in water to give a violet solution. In vacuum at about 400° the compound dissociates into the (Il)bromide and (IV)bromide. [Pg.118]
