Thompson Island pool

Flux measurements for 12 polychlorinated biphenyl congeners from a mass balance across the Thompson Island Pool (TIP) yielded the average MTCs shown in Table 12.12 (Erickson et al., 1991). The data represented 512 observations on MTCs over a 3-Vi year study period, 1996-1999. The average MTC was 1.3cmh and no discernable correlation of MTCs to stream flow or water temperature was foimd. The TIP is 9.8 km length, average width 190 m and volume 429 hectare-meter (ha m) formed by the TI Dam. During the flux observations the hydraulic residence times varied from 4 to 14 h.
