Only a few thiophene copolymers with electron-deficient 1,3,4-oxadiazole units are known. Huang and co-workers synthesized copolymers 84 and 85 and demonstrated that structural variations, particularly different lengths of the oligothiophene fragments, allowed tuning of the bandgap and PL energy of these materials = 489 nm 530 nm 580 nm (84 a b c), 462 nm (498, 526 nm) 568 nm
