Thiol demeton

The same matrices as described above were fortified with phorate and its metabolites, and thiol demeton and its metabolites. 

However, the compound is unstable in this form. It undergoes partial thion-thiol isomerisation, and the commercial product (demeton, Systox ) contains in equilibrium 30% of the thiol isomer (demeton-0,55) and 70% of the thion isomer (demeton-S, 56) (Schrader, 1950c). 

The 0,0-dimethyl homologues of the derivatives discussed above, such as demeton-O-methyl (59) and demeton-S-methyl (60), attained importance because of their lower toxicity (Schrader, 1950d Lorenz et al., 1955 Miihlmann et al., 1954 Lorenz et al., 1955). Demeton-methyl, like its diethyl homologue discussed above, contains 70% of the thiono isomer (59) and 30% of the thiol isomer (60).
