Thiocyanogen trichloride

The compound [Q2C=N—BC12]2 is formed on photochemical chlorination of l,3,5-trimethyI-2,4,6-trichloroborazine 3°) or by interaction of trichlorobor-ane with thiocyanogen trichloride. The reaction of the latter compound with tribromoborane leads to [C12C=N—BBr2]2 21). These processes are summarized in Eq. (7). 

Formation of benzyldichlorothiocyanate on irradiation of solutions of thiocyanogen trichloride (Cl—S—CC1=NC1) with ultraviolet light in toluene, involves homolytic fission of the Cl-S bond.10 Similar photolytic dissociation of sulfenyl chlorides has been reported.149... 

Thiocyanogen in solution in chloroform may react with chlorine in three distinct ways yielding (1) thiocyanogen monochloride, SCNC1, (2) sulphur chloride and cyanuric chloride, and (3) thiocyanogen trichloride, SCNCls.3... 

Thiocyanogen trichloride (from thiocyanogen and chlorine) behaves similarly to simple aliphatic or aromatic sulfenyl chlorides and reacts with cyclohexene to give the trans-adduct24.
