Thioacetic acid, reaction with, 4-chloro

Displacement reactions of 3-chloro-l,2-benzisothiazole (26) have already been mentioned in Section II,A, 8.18,19 22 24 In some cases this displacement is accompanied by a rearrangement. Boshagen has shown that treatment of the above-mentioned compound (26) with thioacetic acid yields an A-acyl-3H-l,2-benzodithiole (39).31 This rearrangement is analogous to that described in Section II, C, 2 above. 

Ethylthio-1,2-dithiolylium fluoborates react with sulfur and form 5-ethylthio-l,2-dithiole-3-thiones9 (e.g., 3->4). With water-pyridine mixtures the analogous 3-ethoxy- 1,2-dithiolylium salts (lb) give a mixture of 1,2-dithiole-3-thiones (2) and l,2-dithiol-3-ones9 (5). The reaction of 3-chloro-1,2-dithiolylium chlorides (6a) with thioacetic acid results in l,2-dithiole-3-thiones (7) probably via a 3-acylthio-1,2-dithiolylium salt (6b).10...
