Thiapyran-2-one

The thermal chemistry of pyran-2-thione in the vapour phase has been shown to give thiapyran-2-one, which was trapped into an argon matrix at 10 K (Scheme 110). The reaction pathways have been investigated by computational methods.161... 

The action of ketene on the enaminothiones 217 leads to adducts which afford thiapyran-2-ones 227 by elimination of a secondary amine (equation 95)117. 

Compound 364 suffers a net dehydration upon FVP at 850 °C to give the benzothiapyran-4-thione 365 in a h h yield (Scheme 73 2006HCA991). Pyrolysis of the terf-butylthiocinnamate 366 gives a low yield of the benzo-thiapyran-2-one 367 (2007ARK(xi)64).
