Thermobalance Stanton Redcroft

The identification of the solid phases and the evaluation of their crystallinity were performed by X-ray powder diffraction while the pore volume of the ZSM-48 materials was evaluated by isothermal (90 °C) sorption of n-hexane, followed in the thermobalance (Stanton Redcroft ST-780 combined TG-DTA-DTG thermoanalyser). 

Of some interest is the question whether the Noack evaporation loss test could be replaced by isothermal gravimetry. In contrast to the Noack test, which only delivers one value after one hour test time, the weight loss versus the test time is recorded by the thermobalance. The important information is whether the evaporation has already reached its final stage. But there is a significant difference in the ratios of surface to volume S V between the cup of the Noack tester and the pan of the thermobalance (Stanton-Redcroft TG 750) ... 

Thermogravimetric analysis was performed on a Stanton Redcroft thermobalance in a flowing oxygen atmosphere at a heating rate of 10°C/minute. Thermal desorption/mass spectrometry (TD/MS) was carried out using am Extranuclear quadrupole mass spectrometer. 4 ... 

Thermogravimetric analyses were carried out on a Stanton Redcroft TG770 thermobalance with a Bausch and Lomb Omnigraphic 2000 XY Recorder. Approximately 8mg of catalyst was heated at a rate of 10°C min in a flow of 30 mis min air from 20°C to 900°C. 

Calibration of the TPC runs was performed on a Stanton Redcroft TG750 thermobalance. A 12.5 mg sanple of Co/Ti02 was reduced in flowing H2 at 400°C and then carbided in pure CO at a heating rate of 5°C/min.

The measurements were carried out using a Stanton-Redcroft TG 750 thermobalance and a DuPont 990 Thermoanalyzer equipped with a pressure DSC cell. 

In order to simulate the thermal cracking process, samples of about 5 mg weight were heated in the Stanton-Redcroft thermobalance ThISD in an argon atmosphere up to 600 °C... 

The Stanton-Redcroft TG 750 thermobalance was used, applying the standard parameters heating rate = 10 K/min and a gas flow rate of 25 cmVmin. 

Some commercial instruments have been developed which combine a thermobalance with a thermal analyzer in a single heating process, recording TG, DTG, and DTA curves simultaneously. Representatives of this kind of equipment are the De-rivatograph (Hungarian Optical Works) shown in Figure 3.7 and the STA system (simultaneous thermal analysis system) of Stanton Redcroft Ltd. (UK). 

Stanton Redcroft (now PL Thermal Sciences Ltd) was a pioneer in developing techniques that coupled a Stanton Redcroft 1000 "C thermobalance thermogravimetric analyser with FT-IR spectroscopy (Digilab FTS40 FT-IR spectrometer with 3200 data system).
