The Reactions of Structurally Different Carbosilanes

The byproducts which appeared from this reaction consisted essentially of Si-brominated derivatives of the main cyclic compounds produced [55]. These reactions proceed readily at room temperature. Also, carbosilanes which have a quaternary carbon atom and an appropriate chain length react further to produce corresponding cyclic structures  

Out of these results arose a number of questions which gave rise to the following investigations.
