The O2 Molecule and Its Magnetism

The dioxygen molecule, O2, constitutes 20.95% of all the gasses in our atmosphere, and it makes Ufe possible. It may seem puzzUng that we have not yet constructed [Pg.84]

The beauty of science is that when we say something, we can test it by doing an experiment. Indeed, there are beautiful experiments on the Web showing how a test tube of liquid O2 (at very low temperature) is attracted to the poles of a magnet (see demonstrations). Note that the 0=0 formulation is available to O2, but it belongs to a higher-energy state. [Pg.85]
