The Inheritance Patterns of Individual Alkaloids

Using genetics it is possible to investigate not only such characters as the presence of smaller or larger amounts of single alkaloids, but also the relation between two alkaloids. Three distinct possibilities are considered  

Two compounds A and B have no biosynthetic relation to each other. 

Compound B is produced from compound A in a one-step reaction. 

Both compounds A and B are produced from a common precursor. 

In the following discussion the simplifying assumptions are made that all genes involved in the experiments are located on different chromosomes and that no disturbances in chromosome behavior occur.
