The physical state of a compound when its infrared spectrum is measured can determine the position and number of infrared bands. Therefore it is important that the physical state be listed when the group frequency is reported. 

Group frequency tables list only group frequency bands. Other bands can appear in the same or in other spectral regions. 

Group frequencies of one structural unit can appear in the same region as those of another unit, thus making correlation of spectra to structural analysis difficult in some instances.
