The compounds of gold were first applied in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in 1927, and are used even today in the treatment of severe cases. 

It is necessary to note that the compound of gold and silicon is formed on the top of the nanowhisker owing to diffusion (Fig. 5.2) it is consistent with the experimental data.
