The chemical reactions involved in various cycles

Complete combustion in a conventional open circuit plant [Pg.140]

In the conventional gas turbine plant, a hydrocarbon fuel (e.g. methane CH4) is burnt, usually with excess air, i.e. more air than is required for stoichiometric combustion. [Pg.140]

all the carbon and hydrogen is used resulting in maximum formation of CO2 and H2O (complete combustion). [Pg.141]

Nitrogen is carried through the combustion unchanged and forms a large part of the carrying gas for any unused oxygen. Supplementary combustion (or reheat) can then take place if more fuel is supplied to the products of primary combustion. [Pg.141]

But in some of the novel cycles we shall consider that there may be [Pg.141]
