The Charge Transfer State Mediated Sensitisation Process

4 The Charge Transfer State Mediated Sensitisation Process [Pg.209]

Sensitisation through ILCT was only recently demonstrated to be active. However, a few examples were published before those demonstrations that led one to think that the sensitisation can occur from the ILCT and not from a classical triplet excited state. In the early 2000s, Lakowicz et al. [61] showed that a pending coumarin (an antenna that is known to present charge transfer character) covalently bound to a DTP A chelator (Fig. 5.11) was able to efficiently sensitise Euflll) luminescence. [Pg.209]

In the same context, Parker et al. and Sammes et al. published independently interesting Eu(III)-D03A complexes containing a pendant acridone chromophore. In those studies, the authors noticed that at 77 K using the Gd(III) complex, most of the energy was driven on the [Pg.209]
