The Charge Balance or Electroneutrality Equation

The basis of the charge balance is that all solutions must be electrically neutral. Ions of one charge cannot be added to, formed in, or removed from a solution without the addition, formation, or removal, of an equal number of ions of the opposite charge. In a solution the total number of positive charges must equal the total number of negative charges. [Pg.98]
