Principal gangue minerals in base-metal vein-type deposits are quartz, chlorite, Mn-carbonates, calcite, siderite and sericite (Shikazono, 1985b). Barite is sometimes found. K-feldspar, Mn-silicates, interstratified mixed layer clay minerals (chlorite/smectite, sericite/smectite) are absent. Vuggy, comb, cockade, banding and brecciated textures are commonly observed in these veins. [Pg.98]

Oblique texture patterns have almost perfect 2mm symmetry and thus the whole set of diffraction spots is represented by the reflections in one quadrant. The arcs are exactly symmetrically placed relative to the major axis, being sections of the same spherical band in reciprocal space. The reflections on the lower half of the pattern are sections of reciprocal lattice rings, which are Friedel partners and thus equivalent to those giving the reflections of the upper half assuming a flat surface of the Ewald sphere. Actually, if the curvature of the Ewald sphere is taken into account, the upper and lower parts of a texture pattern will differ slightly. [Pg.130]

The lower assemblage consists predominantly of red mudstone, with narrow sections (5-20 cm) of reduction spots and entire sections (0.5 to 2 m) of grey reduced and pyritic mudstone becoming more common towards the base. Narrow (0.5 to 5 m) intermediate extrusive volcanic flows become more common towards the base of this assemblage, and display basal textures indicating that moisture and mudstone rip-clasts were acquired into the flow and that heat was supplied to the underlying mudstones, which produced narrow (< 5 cm) contact metamorphism bands of re crystallized mudstone. [Pg.488]

Type II mineralization is replacement type mineralization occurring in the fragmental tops of mafic flows, within the Sunnyside Formation near its lower contact with the Archibald Settlement Formation. Type II Veins and veinlets are commonly intricately banded with zones of early rhythmically-layered amorphous silica and later sulfide commonly displaying framboidal textures. [Pg.513]

Formation of band textures in HPC liquid crystalline solutions was studied by Navard (86) and Takaheshi et al. (94). Upon shearing, some polymeric liquid crystals develop a particular texture which is called "band texture" consisting of fine equidistant lines when viewed under crossed polars. In HPC-H2O mesomorphic solutions these bands are exhibited when the solution is allowed to freely relax after shearing. [Pg.266]
