Tetraoxymethylene

Cyclodioxytetramethylene Diperoxide or Cyclo-di (dimethyletherperoxidel [called Tetraoxymethylen-di peroxyd in Ger and Pertetraoxymethylene in CA 27, 3448 (1933)],... [Pg.377]

All of these polymers are linear with the exception of sym-trioxane [a-trioxymethyl-ene) (HCHO)s] and tetraoxymethylene(HCHO)4, both of which are true polyoxymethylenes, although they are not prepd by the polymerization of monomeric formaldehyde... [Pg.546]

Pertrioxane is an oily liquid reported to. boil at 35-36°C at 12 mm. It is insoluble in water but readih soluble in alcohol. Its odor is at first pleasant, then irritating, probably because it is hydrolysed to formaldehyde on the mucous membranes. It is highly explosh e and detonates on being warmed, with formation of a white sublimate of tetraoxymethylene. Tetraox methylene diperoxide is a crystalline product Yhich detonates without melting on heating to 94°C. It is also sensitive to friction and shock. It is insoluble in water and only difficultly soluble in organic sob ents. [Pg.128]
